Göbeklitepe, located near Şanlıurfa in southeastern Turkey, is an archaeological marvel that has reshaped our understanding of early human civilization. Dating back more than 11,000 years to the Pre-Pottery Neolithic period, it is considered the oldest known temple complex in the world, predating Stonehenge by several millennia. Discovered in the 1960s and fully excavated in the 1990s, Göbeklitepe consists of massive stone pillars arranged in circles, some of which stand as tall as 5.5 meters (18 feet) and weigh up to 10 tons.
